This was me(center) in 1989 at Parsons School of Design’s Summer Intensive Studies Program. The building looks so much different now. The class was fashion illustration.

Tim Gunn's take on plus size Fashion from Marie Claire, and the difficulty of finding clothes for curvy clients...and this is why I love him so! 03/02/2012

Marie Claire-What does all this mean for plus-size women out there who need something to wear now?
Tim Gunn It's so difficult. Have you seen most of the plus-size sections out there? It's horrifying. Whoever's designing for plus-size doesn't get it. The entire garment needs to be reconceived. You can't just take a size 8 and make it larger.

Marie Claire- How do you think the fashion industry responds to the need for better plus-size options?
Tim Gunn In my travels, I've been an advocate for larger women. I've been talking to designers, but only a half-dozen make an effort. Most say, "I don't want a woman who's a size 10 or 11 wearing my clothes." Well, shame on you! It's not realistic. We need to address real women with real needs. At Parsons, we had fit models that ranged in size from 2 to 10. We've got to reconceive clothes for all sizes. Sometimes I say, "I'm going to do a clothing line!" I'd love nothing more to respond to those designers who refuse to address it.

    Polyester is Evil 03/01/2012

The design world has been sneaking polyester back in to our clothing at an alarming rate.

I dare you to check your closet for any new or recent purchases and check to see if they are 100% polyester or a high poly blend. I have searched and searched high end shops to find clothing that doesn’t contain polyester and it is near impossible.

Polyester is a manufactured product, usually a textile, which is made from synthesized polymers.

This substance is made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET), the same material that is used to make plastic drink bottles.

Imagine what it would feel like to be wrapped in plastic all day. Polyester traps body heat and doesn’t allow sweat to evaporate. It is highly flammable and absorbs odors.

Jewell Marie will be polyester/synthetic fiber free! In fact I am researching fabrics that will have the opposite effect, but still provide high end style.

Have you been feeling overheated lately? I might not be hormones, check your clothing!

Pictured above are the worst offenders from my closet, I am not sure what to do with them. I would donate them to women’s shelter, but those women have already been through enough. I can’t throw them away because, I don’t think they will ever biodegrade in a land fill.

Who men really find sexy! 02/29/2012

Curvy women will rule the runway If I have my way!

Dare I say that these models look better than the average size 6 model.

Researchers found that men preferred the shape of ordinary women, equivalent to dress size 14 and that you will be attractive with a certain waist-hip ratio no matter how the rest of your body varies.

12 1/2 stones means the featured model weighs 175 pounds
